Elder Lead

At Legacy Baptist Church we do not have a paid staff.   You will not find anyone with titles on our website.   Our church members share responsibilities for all ministries and operations of the church as needed and approved by the membership.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you:  Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.  For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  We have different gifts, according to the  grace given to each of us.          Romans 12:3-6a

As the church grows it is our goal to appoint a team of Godly men to serve as elders that will act in an advisory role.  Following the model provided to us in the New Testament we will elect as many as twelve elders from the church membership that meet the qualifications as specified by scripture.

Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.  He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.  (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?)  He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.  He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.       1 Timothy 3:2-7
